Our Elko Chiropractors

Dr. Todd Wendell's Introduction to Chiropractic

Elko Chiropractor, Dr. Todd WendellFor years I watched my father frequent a chiropractor who kept him able to continue work.  It was not until many years later that this seed began blossom in my own life as I wandered through my education knowing I wanted to help people but not knowing exactly how.

Why I Became a Chiropractor

My research kept coming back to the nerves of the body as the master control... nothing happens in the body unless the nerves tell it to.  I wanted to help people and learn how to enhance the function of these nerves and live a healthier life. Chiropractic kept popping up in my research.  It was days before I was off to Chiropractic College that I received my first adjustment and it is now that I wonder how so many can attempt to live without Chiropractic care.  It has become our mission to serve people to enhance their life experience.

My Education

My undergraduate studies were done at Western State College of Colorado from which I decided to attend Life West Chiropractic College in the San Francisco bay area.  My search for a way to help people was met with an unbelievable array of studies that focused on the cause of disease, biochemical and biomechanical imbalances in the body natural approaches to allow the body to balance and heal itself.  I was fortunate enough have teachers like Dr. David Spear and Dr. Dan Murphy that put a real life application to biochemistry and nutrition.  An amazing education and a huge shift in philosophy on health.

Our Practice Philosophy and Care Objectives

After over a decade in the healthcare industry, my focus has narrowed and my approach has broadened.  The body must adapt to stress.  Stress can come in a physical, chemical or emotional form.  When a person can no longer adapt to stress they break down, losing health.  Our mission is to serve people with the finest chiropractic care, rehabilitation, nutrition, lifestyle medicine and massage therapy to allow the body a better adaption to this stress.  The result:  An enhanced life experience to allow people to function at a higher level physically, mentally, and spiritually.

My Personal Life

Married for 10 wonderful years, I have been able to share this journey with my beautiful wife, also a Chiropractor and well informed and educated stay at home mom to our beautiful 3 children.  We love the outdoors and connecting with nature.  From hunting to fishing to photography.  We inhale as much of this beautiful world as we can and hope to impart this passion to our kids.

My wife and I many years ago made a change in our mindset on health.  We knew deep down that health was not something that could be bought in a store or found in a bottle.  Health was something you had to work at.  We all get adjusted at least once a week.  My wife and I can be found exercising is some form 6 days a week and align our eating habits as closely to a Mediterranean diet as possible.  We supplement that diet daily due to the destruction of our soils, genetically modified foods, chemicals, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics and more found in our foods.  We know vaccinations are optional and have decided for our family that the health risks outweigh any proposed benefits and trust in exposure for natural, passive, life long immunity.  We teach our children that germs are a part of their health and that health is a personal responsibility.

Dr. Todd Asks some important questions of interest to Elko residents - Chiropractor Elko Dr. Todd Asks...

What can a chiropractor do for asthma?
Many people think of chiropractic as exclusively dealing with the spine. But I'm interested in the spine because it covers the nervous system. Problems in the spine can produce problems in the organs and tissues controlled by the affected nerves—including those to the lungs and bronchial tubes. Find out how chiropractic care has helped those with asthma.
What is the purpose of pain?
Pain prompts many Elko folks to begin chiropractic care. But pain isn't the problem! Pain is just how your body alerts you that a limit has been reached (or exceeded), that something isn't working right and that some type of change is needed. As a chiropractor, my job is finding the underlying cause and recommending the changes needed to bring your body back into balance.
